Biscuit (cookie) flavour: Rose
Decoration: Royal icing base. All patterns painted by hand using gel food colourings and vodka.
Context: Inspired by a patchwork coverlet made by Jane Austen, her sister Cassandra, and their mother. The large biscuits in the centre feature patterns from Jane Austen’s House (wallpaper designs, L and R) and related collection items (a needle case and a letter from Jane to Cassandra, top and bottom). The smaller biscuits are based on some of the 64 dress and furnishing cottons that the Austen women collected and crafted to form the coverlet.
These biscuits were created as part of the Jane Austen’s House Creatives in Residence programme.
